Family Environmental Health Resources (FEHR)

The mission of Family Environmental Health Resources, Inc. (FEHR) is to promote and improve the environmental health of Western New York residents. FEHR, as a charitable organization, will be authorized to seek funding from a variety of sources – including private foundations, corporate donation, government grants and contracts, and individual memberships and contributions – for the purposes of developing and/or promoting programs and activities that will enhance the infrastructure and capacity of the community to respond to chronic and emergent environmental health concerns.

FEHR is dedicated to working with individuals and entities in the primary prevention of exposure of children and families to environmental risk, including stabilization of hazards, education and outreach.

1. Primary Prevention of exposure of children and families to environmental risk, including stabilization of hazards, education and outreach.
2. Amelioration of potential environmental risks to children and families health.
3. Investigation of environmental factors that adversely affect children and families health. 4. Provide training for individuals, groups or businesses in identification, stabilization, amelioration or abatement of environmental health hazards.
5. Improve capacity of Western NY public health laboratories to provide surveillance, monitoring, and evaluation of existing and potential environmental hazards.
6. Improve the capacity of Western New York local health department(s) to assess and respond to existing and potential environmental threats to children and families health.
7. Conduct research to determine effectiveness of interventions in improving children and families environmental health.
8. Promote a regional approach / coordination of services in addressing issues affecting children and families environmental health.
9. Promote and facilitate sustainability of existing environmental programs with a proven track record of effectiveness.
10. Promote collaboration between community and government agencies /organizations and facilitate a comprehensive, proactive approach to dealing with the environmental issues affecting children and families health.
11. Administrative and indirect support including rent, equipment, materials, travel expenses, salary and logistics, and subcontracts/ consultants necessary to carry out FEHR activities.
